For the first time in 19 months, inflation has somewhat decreased.
According to data issued by the Ghana Statistical Service, January 2023 saw a decrease in inflation from the 54.1% observed in December 2022 to 53.6%.
Since May 2021, inflation has been moving higher.
As a result, the general price level in January 2023 was 53.6% higher than it was in January 2022. Between December 2022 and January 2023, monthly inflation was 1.7%.
The statistical service reports that food inflation for the previous month was 59.7%.
Food inflation from one month to the next was 2.8%, and non-food inflation (0.563) was 47.9%. Meanwhile, non-food inflation for the previous month was 49.9%.
Month-on-month The inflation rate for non-food items was 0.8%, while the rate for locally manufactured goods was 50.0%.
Also, 62.5% of imported goods went up in price.
Regionally, Greater Accra had an inflation of 65% while the Eastern area had the greatest year-over-year inflation of 66.2%.
