Wizkid Set To Perform At Accra Stadium

On December 10 of this year, the Accra Stadium will come alive as one of Africa’s best Afrobeats artists, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, better known as Wizkid in the entertainment industry, prepares to perform his first-ever headline gig in Ghana.

The event, dubbed Wizkid Live, is anticipated to make a lasting impression on the more than 40,000 music fans and aficionados who will swarm the stadium.

The Grammy Award-winning musician, who is also one of the most popular and influential young artists in the world, will deliver a stirring performance and make a statement that will further establish him as a performer with the ability to sell out venues.

Performances At The event

The Wizkid Live event will give the audience the chance to experience his music with a two-hour non-stop performance of some of his songs, including Call me every day, Holla at your boy, Don’t dull, and Don’t dull.

Numerous more top-tier artists from Ghana are scheduled to perform that evening, including R2Bees, King Promise, Eugy, Efya, Darko Vibes, Kelvyn Boy, and Gyakie. There may even be some unexpected cameos from other music business titans.

Preparation

The event’s organizer, as well as Live Hub Entertainment, director Jeffrey Engmann, stated in an interview with the Daily Graphic that planning was nearing completion.

“We are running through our routine security checks at the stadium and wrapping up on ticket sales. The stage team from Rave, our production partners led by Ruddy Kwakye, have arrived safely and have hit the ground running,” he pointed out.

Furthermore, Mr. Engmann added, “Our stage is bigger and better than anything that has ever been experienced on Ghanaian soil, and we honestly cannot wait for the audience to experience our 360-stage setup. We’ve also confirmed a super special surprise international act.”

When asked why Wizkid was selected for this performance, Mr. Engmann responded that it was because of a number of his unique talents.

He is a celebrated African artiste doing great things on the continent and abroad, and at a special place in his career where he has the world’s eyes on him.

“Wizkid is very much loved in Ghana and the timing of this concert will give the audience a chance to soak in the new sounds of his new album called More Love, Less Ego,” he emphasized.

About The Artist

Wizkid became popular after the release of Holla at your boy, a single from his debut studio album in 2011. In 2014, he released Ayo, his second studio album.

Moreover, he released his third studio album, Sounds from the Other Side, in 2017 after signing a multi-album deal with RCA Records. It included songs like Naughty Ride, Daddy Yo, Sweet Love, Come Closer, and African Bad Gyal.

Following his collaboration with Canadian rapper Drake on the song One Dance in 2016, Wizkid became the first Afrobeats artist to be listed in the 2018 Guinness World Records.

With the song Brown Skin Girl, he contributed to American singer-songwriter Beyoncé’s 2019 album The Lion King: The Gift of which he received the Best Music Video Grammy Award as a result.

As a matter of fact, his fourth album, Made in Lagos, was released in 2020 and has more than 3,485,993,216 billion streams to its name.

Interestingly enough, he is currently the most streamed Nigerian artist on Spotify.
