M N RidwanJoshua Dotson, who brutally murdered his pregnant ex-girlfriend and three others, has been sentenced to 261 years in prison after pleading guilty to additional charges in connection with his v!olent cr!me spree.
The sentence comes after a lengthy trial that shed light on Dotson’s chilling history of murder and violence.
Dotson, 34, was arrested shortly after the June 2020 k!lling of his ex-girlfriend, Jamesha Covson, 19, who was several months pregnant at the time.
Covson, along with her unborn child, was fatally shot in a crime that left the community in shock.
On February 14, 2025, Dotson received an additional 159 years behind bars after pleading guilty to the deaths of Divieon Parker, Renita Bennett, and Reginald Anderson, bringing his total sentence to an astounding 261 years in prison.
Previously, Dotson had been sentenced to 102 years for the murders of Covson and her unborn child.
The recent convictions, which also covered the three additional murders, added to the already lengthy term.
During his trial, Dotson shockingly referred to himself as a “serial k!ller” and compared himself to the infamous Michael Myers from the Halloween horror films. He claimed that Covson had known too much about his past killings, leading him to murder her out of fear that she would expose him.
The Shelby County District Attorney’s Office expressed relief at the sentencing, noting that justice had been delivered for the victims and their grieving families.
They emphasized that Dotson’s conviction serves as a powerful reminder that violent criminals will face the full weight of the law.
While the sentencing marks the end of a long legal battle, the memory of Dotson’s horrific actions continues to haunt the victims’ families.
The lengthy sentence ensures that Dotson will remain behind bars for the rest of his life, offering some measure of closure to those impacted by his reign of terror.
