M N RidwanThe Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a fresh warning about ongoing rainstorms and possible severe weather conditions in the northern and transition zones of the country.
In its latest update, GMet confirmed that the forecasted thunderstorms are now active, with rain ranging from moderate to heavy already affecting parts of northern Ghana.
The agency expects the stormy conditions to last through the morning and into early afternoon.
The weather system is also likely to spread cloudiness across the coastal and middle belts, potentially triggering more rain or thunderstorms in those areas as the day progresses.
Residents in the forest zone should expect patches of mist and fog during the early hours.
Meanwhile, the northern sector remains the most vulnerable, with concerns over strong winds and localised flooding.
GMet warns that the combination of heavy rainfall and wind could cause flash floods in low-lying areas and pose risks to lives and property.
People living in flood-prone communities are urged to remain alert and avoid flooded roads or drains.
Temperature Outlook Across the Country:
The agency advises the public to take necessary precautions, such as securing loose items, staying indoors during storms, and listening to further updates.
Farmers, drivers, and school administrators in affected areas are especially encouraged to stay informed and act responsibly.
“We are closely monitoring the development of this system and will issue more updates as needed,” GMet stated.
This comes as Ghana enters the peak of the rainy season, with authorities urging preparedness for sudden weather changes.
Citizens are advised to follow local alerts and avoid taking unnecessary risks during periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms.
