Prosper Narteh Ogun Resigns From Kotoko After 10 Months

Prosper Narteh Ogun, Kumasi Asante Kotoko head coach has reportedly left the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League champions just after 10 months of appointment.

Following a crucial meeting with Kotoko’s management and board on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, Prosper Ogun has said to have tendered his resignation.

The 44-year-old took charge of the Asante Kotoko completely transforming the team into a machine, helping them to win the GPL title in the same season he joined them.

The former head coach of WAFA led the Porcupine Warriors to claim the 2021/22 GPL trophy breaking their 8-years without the title at his first attempt.

His reasons for leaving his post at Kotoko are yet to be revealed, however, Joy Sports reports that Kotoko management is trying to convince Prosper Ogun to rescind his decision.

Before joining Kotoko last September, he had an impressive spell with WAFA and led them to a respectable third-place finish in the Ghana Premier League.

Ogun had pledged to make the Porcupine Warriors one of the best clubs on the continent and was expected to lead them to next season’s CAF Champions League after winning the title.

“I will do my best to make Asante Kotoko Sporting Club the best club in Ghana, Africa and the world,” he said at his unveiling.

“I am awfully grateful for this opportunity to serve such a great club Kumasi Asante Kotoko. Everyone will be happy.

“I would like to use this opportunity to thank you all for your congratulatory messages, compliments and best wishes. I’m very grateful. Thanks to HRM Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Board, Management and supporters for reposing trust in me.”

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen whether Kotoko will be able to convince their manager to rescind his resignation.
