M N RidwanA Nigerian amateur footballer, identified as Ola Great, may soon find himself training with one of Spain’s top football clubs, Sevilla FC, after his tweet requesting a trial went viral.
On January 20, 2025, Ola, who previously played for Futa Tigers in the Nigerian University League and later represented SuperStar F.C. in Lagos, took to X (formerly Twitter) to make an unusual request: “How many reposts for a tryout with your team?” directed at Sevilla FC’s official English account.
Sevilla’s response was swift and playful. The club set a challenge: if the tweet was reposted 100,000 times, they would consider offering Ola a trial.
What followed was a wave of support from football fans, as the tweet quickly gained traction across social media platforms.
By the time of reporting, the tweet had surpassed 131,000 retweets, 63,200 likes, and an impressive 12.5 million impressions.
True to their word, Sevilla FC responded on January 21, sharing a link to a trial opportunity for Ola Great.
Ola’s story has captivated the football world, offering him a potential life-changing chance to showcase his skills at a major European club.
If the trial is successful, he could soon join Nigerian stars like Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidera Ejuke at the Spanish club.
The 2024 season saw Ola playing for SuperStar F.C., but this newfound opportunity with Sevilla could catapult his career to new heights.
For now, football fans are eagerly watching as Ola Great takes the first step towards possibly fulfilling his dream of playing for a top European club.
