MUNTAKA MUBARAK (MP) TOLD THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO BE CAREFUL NOT TO CREATE A MONSTER OUT OF THE IGP

Honourable Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, the member of parliament (M.P) for the Asawase constituency in Kumasi and also the minority chief whip, has warned Ghanaians to be careful of raining praises on the inspector general of police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.

Honourable Mohammed – Muntaka Mubarak, the Asawase member of Parliament (M.P), though the newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) seem to be delivering on his directive, there’s the need for Ghanaians to be cautious about the praise he is taking.

He said there is possibility of the IGP becoming a monster resulting from the public commendation he is enjoying at the moment .

He went on to say ,”I mean Dampare, oh good guy…let’s be careful we don’t create a monster out of him. Let’s be careful because you see, he has to make sure he is also working within the confines of the law”.

His honourable Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak said this when he appeared on the Joy news channel, on Sunday the 31th Oct 2021.

He stated this according to recent arrests made by police, especially claimed arrest of the Madina member of Parliament, Francis-Xavier Sosu, in the church, on Sunday afternoon.

Mr. Francis-Xavier Sosu, on embarking on church visitation was allegedly trapped and surrounded by policemen waiting on him to be arrested as soon as venture out the church yard.

Mr. Francis-Xavier Sosu’s failure to report to the police station, following an invitation concerning a demonstration he organised in his constituency on Monday, October 25.

According to Muntaka, the earlier invitation by the police and the attempted were all wrong moves, which shouldn’t have happened in the first place.

speaking on the issue Emefa Apawu, stated that, demonstration is an integral part of country’s democracy. and if an M.P is involved in one , he shouldn’t be arrested. Muntaka called for clearer interpretation of articles 117 and 118 by the supreme Court.
