Kumawood actor Kwaku Manu was visibly emotional as he addressed the severe economic challenges facing Ghanaians, making a heartfelt plea to President-elect John Mahama during a live broadcast on United Showbiz.
In a moment that left the studio stunned, Kwaku Manu dropped to his knees, hands clasped together in a gesture of deep humility, to implore Mahama to stay true to his promises and work towards alleviating the suffering of the Ghanaian people.
He went on to explain how many Ghanaians have been trafficked, exploited, and even forced into prostitution abroad, while Ghana, a country rich in resources like gold and cocoa, remains in dire economic straits.
The actor’s impassioned speech also reflected his disappointment in the unfulfilled promises of previous administrations, particularly regarding the ‘One District, One Factory’ initiative, which he believed should have been a priority for improving local economies.
“This should have worked, but it didn’t materialize,” he lamented.
Kwaku Manu urged Mahama to focus on the policies he promised, such as the 24-hour economy and poultry initiative, and ensure they are effectively implemented to improve the lives of Ghanaians.
He also asked Mahama to listen to constructive criticism and advice from the public. “Please, have mercy on the country,” he implored.
The emotional appeal has resonated with many Ghanaians, who, after giving Mahama a strong mandate, are hoping he will fulfill their high expectations and lead the country towards prosperity.
