The Black Stars’ triumph over South Korea has made Jordan Ayew ecstatic, and he has hailed it as a significant outcome for the squad because it has set up their 2022 World Cup campaign.
On Monday afternoon, Ghana triumphed after losing to Portugal in their opening match in Qatar.
Mohammed Kudus scored a brace, while Mohammed Salisu finished strong to earn all three points and increase their prospects of moving on to the next round.
Numerous perspectives have been expressed about the performance, with many arguing that, despite the outcome, the Black Stars need to do better before their decisive match against Uruguay on Friday.
The Koreans pushed for the equalizer in the waning minutes, forcing Otto Addo’s team to play on the defensive.
The Crystal Palace forward acknowledged that it was a challenging match, but Ghana performed admirably.
“The most important thing is that we got the three points. We scored two goals in the first half. We didn’t start the second half well but we grew into it and managed to score the third goal. We defended well. They gave us a tough time.”
In the current tournament, Ghana has already scored five goals, four of which came from players 23 years of age or younger. Young players, like Mohammed Kudus, who scored twice in the victory on Monday, received high appreciation from Ayew.
“We have a very young team, very energetic. We the senior players, we try to motivate the younger ones every day and let them know that it’s the World Cup.
I think the young ones that came on and the ones that started showed experience, composure and we the senior players are really pleased.”
