Former Detective Roger Golubski, Facing S3x Crime Charges, D!es Before Trial

Roger Golubski, a former Kansas City, Kansas, police detective accused of s3xually assaulting black women while on duty, was found de@d at his home on Monday, December 2, 2024, in what authorities are calling an apparent suicide.

Golubski, 71, was set to begin trial on federal civil rights violation charges, which included allegations of repeated sexual assaults of two Black women in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Golubski’s body was discovered on the back porch of his Edwardsville home after a neighbour called 911 at 9 a.m. on Monday.

He d!ed from a gunshot wound, and there were no immediate signs of foul play, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. The circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation.

Just hours after Golubski’s de@th was reported, federal prosecutors filed a motion requesting that the charges against him be dropped.

Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke and U.S. Attorney Kate Brubacher issued a joint statement acknowledging the difficulty of the situation.

“This matter involved extremely serious charges,” they stated, “and it is always difficult when a case is unable to be fully and fairly heard in a public trial.”

Golubski had been indicted in 2022 on six counts of federal civil rights violations, including accusations of s3xually assaulting a 13-year-old girl over a span of two years.

The indictment revealed that Golubski threatened the young girl with violence to keep her silent.

Additionally, another woman accused him of s3xual assault over a period of several years, allegedly following an arrest he made of her sons.

Golubski was also charged with conspiracy for his alleged involvement in a sex trafficking ring involving underage girls in the 1990s.

He had pleaded not guilty to all charges, but his trial was scheduled to begin on December 2.

The civil rights violations against Golubski were not the first time his conduct had been called into question.

His name had surfaced in connection with the wrongful conviction of Lamonte McIntyre, a teenager who spent 23 years in prison before his release and a subsequent settlement with the county for $12.5 million.

Golubski’s case garnered national attention, with advocacy groups and protesters demanding justice for the victims.

Just two months ago, Rapper Jay-Z’s Team ROC filed a lawsuit against the Kansas City police department, alleging the department obstructed efforts to obtain documents related to police abuse and misconduct.

As authorities continue their investigation into Golubski’s de@th, many questions remain about the full scope of his actions and the lasting impact of his career on the Kansas City community.
