Flood Alert: NADMO Shares Emergency Numbers as Rains Intensify

As the rainy season gains momentum, the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) is urging Ghanaians to stay alert and be prepared for potential floods.

In an advisory released on Monday, May 19, NADMO reminded the public that flooding can happen quickly and without warning, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

“Don’t wait until it’s too late,” the agency warned. “Be ready and know who to call when disaster strikes.”

To help residents respond swiftly during emergencies, NADMO has released a list of emergency contact numbers that should be saved by everyone:

📞 0302964884
📞 0299350699
📞 0299350030
📞 0299350244

For urgent situations, people can also dial 112, a nationwide emergency short code, for quick help.

The organization emphasized that these numbers are strictly for genuine emergencies. Prank calls or false alarms could delay rescue efforts and put real lives in danger.

“This is a matter of public safety,” NADMO stated. “We rely on the public to use these lines responsibly so help can reach those in need without delay.”

As the country braces for more heavy rains in the coming weeks, NADMO says its goal is to reduce loss of life and property by keeping citizens informed and prepared.

The advisory is part of a broader national campaign to improve disaster awareness and response. NADMO continues to work with local authorities, first responders, and volunteers to educate communities about what to do before, during, and after floods.

Residents, especially those living near rivers, gutters, or areas known for flooding, are advised to stay informed through local news and to report blocked drains or early signs of flooding to local NADMO offices.

NADMO’s timely warning comes just a day after parts of Accra experienced severe flooding that led to tragic losses. The agency is urging everyone to take preparedness seriously.

“When we prepare ahead of time, we save lives,” the statement concluded.
