FIFA AWARDS – 2021 LEWANDOWSKI AWARDED BEST MEN’S PLAYER

Robert Lewandowski beats Messi and Mohamed Salah to win the Best FIFA Men’s Player Award for the second time in a row.

Robert Lewandowski was titled for The Best FIFA Men’s Award for 2021 on Monday, 17th of January, 2022, as the Poland star receive his honour for the second successive year.

He won the award as he beat off competition from Lionel Messi and Mohamed Salah.

Alexia Putellas won the award for The Best FIFA Women’s Player after earlier winning the Ballon d’Or, also Edouard Mendy, Thomas Tuchel and Erik Lamela were among the others acknowledged.

Lewandowski had earlier in 2021 won the FIFA Club World Cup with the German giants, also another Bundesliga title. He was a key in his country’s World Cup Qualifying effort, scoring eight goals in numerous matches.

Meanwhile, Alexia, for her exploit for Barcelona, was titled the winner of The Best FIFA Women’s Player.

She made it a full set as she received the award in Zurich on Monday and had lately been crowned the winner of the Ballon d’Or last year.

The 27-year-old was fundamental to Barca’s Primera Division, Copa de la Reina and Champions League successes in 2021.

Also, Chelsea’s hero, Mendy was crowned the winner of The Best FIFA Goalkeeper in the men’s game as he beats Donnarumma and Neuer.

Erik Lamela, formerly Tottenham player, took the award for the Best Goal of the year for his rabona effort in March, for the North London Derby against Arsenal.

The Denmark National team received the Fair Play Award for their response towards Christian Eriksen’s cardiac arrest during their Euro 2020 match.

Tuchel, Chelsea’s manager took the award for the Best FIFA Men’s Coach. He took over as Chelsea boss last year and helped them to the Champions League title.

Also, Emma Hayes of Chelsea took the award for the Best FIFA Women’s coach of 2021. It was a double win for Chelsea.

She had led Chelsea to success in the FA Women’s Super League and FA Cup in 2021, while she lost to Barcelona on reaching the Champions League final.

The World XI for 2021 was also announced, which featured a goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders and four attackers.

They are as follows: Gianluigi Donnarumma; David Alaba, Ruben Dias, Leonardo Bonucci; Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Kevin De Bruyne; Cristiano Ronaldo, Erling Haaland, Robert Lewandowski, Lionel Messi.
