"Give Me My Money!" — Eleven Wonders Owner's Reported Bribe Turns Sour

In a bizarre twist to an already heated football rivalry, the owner of Eleven Wonders, Nana Ameyaw, has reportedly demanded a refund from match officials after his team drew 1-1 with Techiman Heroes in a Division One League clash.

Despite having already secured a place in the Zone 1 playoffs, Eleven Wonders were determined to defeat city rivals Techiman Heroes in a May 5 showdown at the Ohene Ameyaw Park.

But after the game ended in a draw, frustration reportedly boiled over — with claims that Nana Ameyaw had earlier offered a bribe to influence the match result.

According to Techiman Heroes’ communications officer, Odehyeba Gideon Bekoe, who spoke on Sompa FM in Sunyani, the club’s owner confronted referee Frederick Samena after the final whistle.

“The issue is that after the game, Techiman Eleven Wonders’ bankroller went to the referees’ room to demand for his money,” Bekoe said.

The alleged bribe was intended to sway the officiating in favor of Eleven Wonders, securing them a victory that would give them city bragging rights over their rivals.

But with the game ending in a stalemate, the reported attempt backfired — not only failing to alter the result but now potentially dragging the club into scandal.

Despite the controversy, Eleven Wonders will still move on to the Zone 1 playoff, where they will face Real Tamale United (RTU) on May 30.

The stakes couldn’t be higher, as the winner of that match earns a coveted spot in the Ghana Premier League.

The Ghana Football Association has yet to officially comment on the bribery allegations, but pressure is mounting for an investigation as fans and pundits express concern over the integrity of the game.

What was meant to be a routine end-of-season match has now turned into a potential scandal — with a club owner demanding money back for a favor that allegedly didn’t go his way.
