M N RidwanA remarkable couple from Philadelphia has captured hearts worldwide by setting a new Guinness World Record for the oldest married couple.
Bernie Littman, 100, and Marjorie Fiterman, 102, tied the knot earlier this year, reaching a combined age of 202 years and 271 days, making them the oldest newlyweds in history.
The couple, who found love in their senior living community, had both lost their first spouses before meeting each other.
Their journey to romance began when they became neighbors on the same floor. It wasn’t until a costume party that sparks flew, and their bond quickly deepened over shared meals and activities at the facility.
Bernie and Marjorie’s relationship blossomed over nine years, leading to a heartfelt wedding ceremony on May 19 at the same facility where they first met.
Surrounded by family—including four generations of Bernie’s relatives—the couple exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony.
Both were escorted to the altar in wheelchairs, with loved ones holding up a traditional Jewish wedding canopy, or chuppah.
The officiant, Adam Wohlberg, shared a touching message with the couple, remarking that their years of life experience made their marriage the natural next step.
“What you know and understand about each other is exactly what the future holds for you,” Wohlberg said.
The secret to their long lives? Bernie credits his mental sharpness to his love for reading, while Marjorie swears by the benefits of drinking buttermilk.
Their story has become a beacon of hope, showing that love is timeless and can be found at any stage of life.
Bernie and Marjorie’s love story proves that even in the later years of life, new beginnings are possible, and love can break all barriers, even age.
