A Missouri couple faces child ab*se charges after reportedly using a utility tool to perform a botched circumcision on a child in their home.
The couple, Tyler Wade Gibson and Bailey Alexus Gibson, were charged following a harrowing incident that left the child with serious injuries.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed by the Morgan County Prosecuting Attorney, Tyler Gibson is charged with child abuse and performing an unauthorized surgery.
His wife, Bailey, is also charged with child abuse for allegedly assisting in the procedure.
The incident occurred on November 27, when Tyler, who is not a licensed medical professional, performed the circumcision at home.
The procedure resulted in significant physical harm to the child, prompting the parents to seek medical attention.
The affidavit revealed that the procedure was carried out using a utility tool, and Tyler admitted to police that he had no formal medical training.
Despite conducting “research” and “praying a blessing” before the procedure, Tyler was unprepared for the amount of bleeding that followed.
After the botched circumcision, the child was first taken to Lake Regional Hospital, then transferred to University Hospital for further treatment.
Police were alerted when the hospital reported the child’s condition on November 28.
Tyler and Bailey left the hospital against medical advice after only four hours, citing frustration from waiting.
In an interview, Tyler explained that he sterilized the blade and used pads to catch the blood but was unprepared for the complications that arose.
He admitted to performing the circumcision in his home and was later arrested. Bailey also allegedly admitted to assisting in the procedure.
Tyler appeared in court on December 3, while Bailey is scheduled to appear on January 28, 2025.
The couple now faces serious legal consequences as authorities investigate this disturbing case of child abuse.
