BLACK STARS 30-MAN PROVISIONAL SQUAD FOR THE TOURNAMENT
Ghana Black Stars head coach Milovan Rajevac names five local-based players in his 30-man provisional squad for the 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.
Bare in mind, this is just a provisional squad they’ll be trim down to 28 playing body or less.
As for who would be on board for the tournament in Cameroon, we just have to wait patiently for the final announcement from the Head Coach Milovan.
If it happens znewsgh.com will be in hand to bring it to you.
The local based players named by coach Milovan includes, Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper, Richard Atta, Ghana Premier League six-goal leading scorer, David Abagna from Real Tamale United, Maxwell Abbey Quaye of Accra Great Olympics, Dreams FC’s Fatawu Issahaku and Philemon Baffour.
For players like Khalid Abdul Mumin of Vitoria de Guimaraes, Salis Abdul Samed of French League 1 side Clermont foot, Quaye of Olympics and Abagna of Real Tamale United, this has been their first call up from the Black Stars of Ghana.
In Milovan’s 30-man squad is Thomas Teye Partey, Arsenal’s midfielder who missed last month’s World Cup qualifiers game in Ethiopia and South Africa due to injury and Genk’s winger, Joseph Painstill.
Teams taking part in the next year’s AFCON tournament must present a final squad of 28 players ( five players increment), just for the reason if any of the players test positive for Covid-19.
Although, this is not an obligation, it’s an option to the teams.
The federation of the participating teams takes the cost of the accommodation and the international travel of the additional players in the final squad.
This implies, Milovan will have to take out two players to make the final squad. And also the Black Stars is to begin camping from December 22, 2021 in Qatar for a 17-days training, in preparation towards the Cup of Nations which kicks off on Sunday, 9th of January 2022.
Ghana has already completed talks with the Algerian national club for a friendly match, following the AFCON and also making arrangements for two other friendly matches before the tournament.
